‘Commoning’, for winter fuel
(Wynken de Worde Society, Christmas 2024)
Wynken de Worde (died 1534) journeyman of William Caxton (died c1491) who introduced the printing press in England in 1476 (NB. Johannes Gutenberg developed the first press in 1455).
Commoning for fuel or timber, by right = ‘coppicing’, from the ground level and ‘pollarding’ high from a farm waggon.
